Funding is being cut from jogscotland. The team within Scottish athletics that supports our groups are now going to have to do it on a shoe-string. Funding will be cut from April. We need the parent body. It is outrageous that the Scottish Government plans to cut this funding when so many people are benefiting from being members. Our group has been going since 2006- 11 years. Hundreds of people have become active over the years as a result. We are still going strong. How many of you would be jogging/running if the group wasn’t here? If you feel as strongly as I do, please sign the petition that’s been started (by Leven jogscotland I think). Also email firstname.lastname@example.org. Let them have your story. Copy the email to your local MSP (email addresses ‘first name.second email@example.com) and also to Neil Finlay MSP who is Convenor of the Health and Sport Committee.
Points to make could include the fact that our group meets 3xweek- regularly 20-30 turn out, sometimes 40 and occasionally 50 per evening session. Health benefits, both physical and mental are very obvious. Ours is a village group. Hardly anyone ran about our village prior to 2006. Add anything more you can think of please!
Our goal is to reach 100 signatures and we need more support. You can read more and sign the petition here:
