Tomorrow we are doing our Monthly Off-Road Run which was postponed from last week. We plan to run from Maryburgh along the riverside to Dunglass Island and return. The paths are (surprisingly) mainly dry, but there are a couple of places where it’s a bit muddy. Trail shoes will be best if you have them as when on the island we will be running on the grassy river bank and I’d hate for anyone to take a dooking! If you’ve not got trail shoes don’t worry, as you’ll manage in road shoes; you’ll just need to be extra careful.
Meet at our usual place in the railway station carpark in Muir of Ord, at 1:30pm prompt, where we will car share to the start. Anyone coming from the north is welcome to join us at our starting point. This is the old school on Hood Street in Maryburgh at 1:40.
Directions: drive through the village heading north from MoO, until just past the shops and end of the 20mph zone. Turn left at the junction beside the war memorial and the wee green terraced cottage. The old school is on the left hand side on the road after about 150m.
Grid Ref: NH 541 566. There is space for parking beside the playing field and in the school yard.
The out-and-back route is about 8km and will take us about 1 hour – maybe a smidgeon more, if it’s bonnie and we stop for photos along the way!
We’ll return to Muir of Ord for about 3pm.
Hope to see you there.
